What was even funnier to me was the fact that since Waterloo, Iowa
is where I live, that thought hadn't crossed my mind until I heard that
spoken, this morning, when I turn on CNBC to see it the markets were
tanking again. (They are. More bad news for McSame.)
When I was watching "Meet the Press" yesterday, it was fascinating
to think that it was happening live, just two miles down the street. A
shame that there was no studio audience. Even most of KWWL-TV's own
STAFF had to watch it from their homes on TV, just like the rest of us.
Hardly anyone but those on the show, the "Meet the Press" personnel,
and the Secret Service were allowed inside the entire 4-story building.
I'm no fan of McCain, of course, but not seeing him in person was no
big deal. I COULD have done that just 3 hours later by driving 8 miles to
our twin city, Cedar Falls, but didn't. He's a loser... and presidential
candidates are a dime a dozen in this state anyway. One almost trips
over them, they're here so much of the time. The one I would have
enjoyed seeing in person was Tom Brokaw.
Brokaw was 100% fair with McCain, but made quivering dog meat of
him anyway. Throughout the entire half hour of the interview, McCain
was defensive, often bumbling or giggly, and looked like a deer caught
in the headlights. All of which was just FUNNIER than hell to watch!!

There can't possibly BE too many egalitarian judges, since ALL
of them are constrained to rule *within* the parameters of the
Constitution. NO judge can *contradict* the Constitution. In
any given case, there is only so much potential "gray area" wiggle
room within which one must rule, or contradiction would occur.
The BEST judges are the fair-minded, sensible, and compas-
sionate ones who rule as close as they possibly can to the param-
eter that affords the most personal freedom for individuals. As
an envelope is defined by it's edges, it's a case of staying inside
of the envelope so as to still be mailable, with the *content*
always being snugly against the edge called "liberty."
Individual freedom should be PARAMOUNT, and NO President
or Senate should EVER be responsible for appointing/confirming
a Justice that doesn't make it unequivocally *clear* that he/she
will steadfastly seek to defend and support it to the fullest extent
possible. There is NOTHING good to be gained by installing a
repressive Justice. That is one of the most *harmful* actions that
a President or Senator can do to his/her country.
We MUST **keep** EGALITARIAN judges in the majority in
the U.S. Supreme Court. And to do that, we MUST elect Obama.

Gee. Deja Vu all over again! That's JUST what the Segregationists
use to say to me when I was opposing THEIR equally-loathsome agendas
as a Civil Rights worker in Mississippi, in the early 1960s -- during Civil
Rights Movement I.
So here we all are, 45 years later. SAME bigoted ignorance. Blacks
in 1963... and women and gays in 2008.
The outcome will, of course, be the same as it was for the Segrega-
tionists-- the EXTINCTION of the Anti-Choice and Anti-Gay-rights agen-
das. America ALWAYS outgrows and rejects bigoted agendas. One-by-
one-by-one-by-one.

Yeah, I agree. You'd think with all the special rights and privileges
they have know they would have gotten past those hang ups of bigotry
and intolerance in 45 years, huh? |
