Newsweek Poll: Obama Opens Up 15-Point Lead
51 to 36
Barack finally has his bounce. For weeks many political experts and
pollsters have been wondering why the race between Democrat Barack Obama and
Republican John McCain had stayed so tight, even after the Illinois senator
wrested the nomination from Hillary Clinton. With numbers consistently
showing rock-bottom approval ratings for President Bush and a large majority
of Americans unhappy with the country's direction, the opposing-party
candidate should, in the normal course, have attracted more disaffected
voters. Now it looks as if Obama is doing just that.
And it's not just Obama that's bouncing, according to Newsweek, it's the
Democratic Party in general:
Obama's current lead also reflects the large party-identification
advantage the Democrats now enjoy-55 percent of all voters call themselves
Democrats or say they lean toward the party while just 36 percent call
themselves Republicans or lean that way.
And about that fictitious problem with women? Well, he leads McCain by 21
points in that demographic.
Obviously, it's still waaay early in the game, but the article points out
that Obama is "running much stronger" than either Al Gore or John Kerry were
at this point in the process.

This is for Obama vs. McCain.
Wrong matchup.
Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic nominee.
Terry McAulliffe:
"Hillary Clinton is the one who can do it. She's got more popular
votes. She's got more votes out of the primaries. More people have
come out to support Hillary Clinton..."
"These folks are not quitting on Hillary Clinton, and she is not
quitting on them. We are in this thing ‘til the end. We are in it. We
are taking it to Denver, and we’re taking it to the White House.
Hillary Clinton will be the next President of the United States of
America.” |

You must be referring to Dr.Al Gore. I find it interesting that
Dr.Gore left office in 2000 worth a paltry $100,000 and in 8 short
years of a disastrous Bush economy he's now worth over $100 million!!
Just think how much he'll be worth after 4 years of a marxist
Presidency signing on to the Kyoto Treaty!! He'll be able to own not
only a private jet but a private helicopter too. |

The answer is, if the Global Warming Theory is correct, bad things will
happn. To prevent those bad things from happening you have to prevent the
causes of Global Warming. Can you say that ANYONE is doing that, or even
proposing to do that? Be careful how you reply, because I am prepared to
respond by saying that there is no one that is serious about preventing the
event from happening, other than perhaps a few nut cases, who cannot
implement what they want us to implement, so what they say is meaningless. |

The answr is actions speak louder than words. If the scientist are right,
then those who believe the scientist should be doing everything possible to
prevent the event from happening. That there should be no doubt, that is
what they should do. Is that the case? Can you prove that EVERYONE who can
do something about it and believe in the Theory, is willing to do what is
required to prevent the event from happening? One other point. If you say
that the causes of global warming are greenhouse gases. don't you have to
know if you reduce the amount of greenhouse gases that are the result of
human activity that it will indeed prevent the event from happening? And
what good is it to guess at what your actions are achieveing, when you
cannot measure whether what you are doing is actually reducing greenhouse
gases where it counts, and that is in the atmosphere? |

An interesting failure in logic. Yes, if the scientists are right,
then those who believe them *should* be doing something about it. And
of course they aren't, or at least nothing effective. From this, the
poster tries to conclude ... that there is no global warming? This
doesn't follow in the least. People rarely do what they should, why
ought this circumstance be different from any other?
Why is nobody doing anything effective about global warming? Simple.
To do something effective about global warming requires control of the
economy by human beings as opposed to the "free market." Those in
power in the world would prefer to see it destroyed rather than
abandoning the so-called "free market" capitalist system.
Indeed, looks lately as if even if the scientists are wrong, and
global warming is not that serious a problem, the capitalist system is
toast anyway. Not that the bankers and billionaires care, the human
race can at any rate survive for another few generations, and by the
time global warming renders it uninhabitable, they would all be dead
anyway, and in the meanwhile they at least will make out OK.
