The knee-jerk reflex is, was somebody trying to get back at
Perry for something? After all, the Governor's been on the side
of the Boy Scouts (even though some of their stances are
seriously out of touch with reality these days) and stood up for
CPS vs. the FLDS recently.
But I wonder if there was something fishy with the 'renovations'
results vs. the renovations' budget, myself. I'll try and keep
y'all posted. Whether you care or not, really; the Governor's
Mansion, like the State Capitol and the King Ranch and Palo Duro
Canyon, is one of those quintessential things that makes Texas

POET'S POSTSCRIPT
As much as I think that our society is functioning at a level
where some good, old-fashioned anarchy would do it some good,
I do not revel in anarchy for its own sake. Believe it or not,
I do believe in rule of law, as a general rule.
The points are that 1) law is impotent if it lacks muscle
to back it up, but more importantly , 2) law loses not only
its legitimacy, but its ability to enforce itself, if it
becomes sufficiently lacking in good sense and equality.
If law itself lacks too much fundamental fairness, there will
be large masses of people- not just psychopaths, but rational and
ordinary people, who will turn on the so-called law.
Americans can't imagine that their wonderful country
is anything other than a model of the ultimate good sense.
Their rosy self-assessment makes it difficult to convey
the width of the gulf in perceptions, relative to an alienated
minority member.
KILL THE LAWYERS. AND THE LAWMAKERS. AND THE JUDGES
I have almost no respect for the people in our land
who make the laws, who enforce the laws, or who interpret the laws.
Each branch of government has earned contempt, like each
of the 50 states.
The people who make the laws? Like former Congressman
William Dannemeyer, who had an anti-gay nutcase on his
paid staff, a man who advocated genocide against gays,
openly?
Like the Congressman who said openly that he *wanted*
landlords to be able to refuse to rent to gays?
The people who judge the laws? Like the judges in Kansas
who gave an extra 16 years in prison to a gay 18 year-old,
just because he was gay? Like the judges who took the
child of Sharon Bottoms? The trial that gave 5 years in
prison to double-murderer Dan White?
The people who enforce the laws? My memory banks contain
things like the account by a friend, a gay Vietnan veteran,
a wonderful human being, who was stopped by a Rhode Island
trooper. Some, minor traffic thing. The trooper saw a
gay sticker on the car and proclaimed that "all the
faggots should be killed".
The problem is not just at the bottom of the totem pole.
The function of the executing federal law-
that would be the Executive branch, and that would be
the Bush administration. 'Nuff said.
The Commander-in-Chief, in one interview, did not seem
to have a grasp of the divisions of responsibilities
among the different government branches, that you would expect
out of a 7th grader.
WHEN THE LAW IS AN ASS, ASSASSINATION IS STILL ILLEGAL,
BUT IT CEASES TO BE "WRONG"
A good example of the Law losing its brains is with
"sodomy laws" that people like Antonin Scalia
on the Supreme Court, and the Texas GOP, would love
to reinstall.
If you treat a large mass of innocent people like common
criminals, you might think that you will be safe behind
the fortress walls, protected by the police, the army,
the FBI, etc.
I say that would never be. The social contract would be
broken. Anyone who was not a complete, crawling worm would
aim to retaliate and punish their government and the society
that took such degrading attitudes. A lot of people might
slink away, and hide, but others will lose fear and be
willing to do anything.
If the Law is that much of an ass, I would not give
much of a damn what the law says, or be impressed
by the stature of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court
and everyone in it could be bombed to rubble, and it
would serve the country right, to have their sense
of security shattered by such a sight, like the
storming of the Bastille.
Overbearing ego is not effective armor.
You cannot monitor everyone, jail everyone. There are
extreme vulnerabilities that exist in spite of the best efforts
of Big Brother, and there always will be.
Currently, our country's institutions are mired in sleaze
and myriad suspicious circumstances and events that reek
like week-old fish. The only thing that prevents anarchy
is not the force of law, but the lack of awareness level
across the land. There seem to be some cracks showing-
more people starting to wake up. It would be well-advised
for those in power to change some long-running, bad habits.
FIGHTING SHARKS
The poem might seem to imply that I identify simply
with the shark. That is not quite the case, and why
I resort to writing dreary prose to clarify the fine points,
like legal fine print.
The gay population is largely brainwashed to think that
their country's leaders are basicallly above-board,
law-abiding, reasonable people, only a bit bigoted,
but maybe we can bring them around.
My allusions to covered-up political murders, etc,
endless fishy circumstances, etc, are trying to challenge
that comforting illusion. We are dealing with sharks.
These people, who run the show, are killers.
They are cynical. They are corrupt.
I could happily murder people who get on their high-horses
and pat themselves on the back, for snickering at
"conspiracy theory", when they have no concept how clueless
they are. It is like talking to children, sometimes.
Gays don't want to know that they have been murdered with
an engineered epidemic, in large part because they would
then have to deal not only with the disquieting realization
of the depth of their own government's insanity and hatred,
but also with their own community's impotence to dare to
do much about it.
The gay population is practically insane to be denying
the possibility of covert genocide, as they do. The character
evidence ought to be obvious. The very thought of a genocide
advocate consorting with Congressmen, while the media is
silent about it, ought to be sufficient justification to
make a judgement of probable guilt in our government.
There would be no particular need to apologize, even if
it could be proven someday that the suspicion was mistaken.
The insane hostility that we faced, the blood-chilling
kinds of rhetoric that went routinely uncondemned, was
abundantly evident.
Gays are largely uninformed about the real malignancy
around them, because the reality is buried under a great
deal of censorship. One needs to be very proactive,
in order to gain a sense of what really goes on.
It is almost comical, how so many people imagine themselves
to be aware, yet when you grill them, it is astonishing
what they do not realize.
Not even the gay press really does justice to political
reality, much less the mainstream media.
I almost typed "meanstream". I suppose that would work, too.
Gays shut out the realization, much like we learn to cope by
shutting out the realizations of aging and mortality,
or the chances for impending nuclear holocaust.
It would also upset our community to be cast adrift
at sea, suddenly having it clear to them that they have
no recourse by process of law. When your leaders are
killers, and the press consists of the propaganda-spouting
assistants, any mode of opposition that has any real chance
of success will involve force and violence, just like
defeating the Confederate states or the Nazis party,
or Vladimir Putin, or Robert Mugabe. They will not have
a change of heart, or negotiate, or be fair, until it is
utterly forced upon them.
There is no "investigation" that will happen, no impeachment,
no shaming or reasoning.
When you are lost at sea, and fighting with a shark,
who wants to eat you, it is not the time to take the attitude
that all of God's creatures are sacred, including the shark.
You do not engage in verbal debate. You poison that shark,
or hit it on the head, or stab it. You get over your
squeamishness, you do not feel guilty. You do what it takes,
even if you wish that the world operated differently.
Of course, when you are lost at sea, on a small raft,
and fighting a shark, your chances are not good.
But they are not zero. You try, no matter.
