I was glad to see the United States make some progress over the absurdly controversial issue of gay marriage this summer. On May 15, the California Supreme Court ruled to strike down all prohibitions on gay marriage by a 4-3 vote. Now California joins the honorable handful of places in the world where gays can marry: Massachusetts, the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, Norway, South Africa, and Spain.
